The pyrotechnic shows at Għaxaq start from the 9th August accomplishment their climax on the 15th. The annual impressive show is held on the 14th August starting at 21:00 hrs. The synchronized show consists of several barrages, spider webs, spherical shells and the traditional multi break cracker and color shells. Fireworks Tradition in Malta

Fireworks Tradition in Malta has a lengthy ritual which goes back to the time of the Order of the Knights of St John. The solfarelli d’aria, the feu de joie, the musketterija, St Catherine’s wheels (irdieden) and other structures of fireworks originated from explosives that were lit off from mortars as an appearance of rejoicement on special circumstances, such as the appointment of a Grand Master or a Pope as well as on the birth of a prince. This centuries-old tradition is still very much alive in the crowded calendar of village fiestas that take situate all over Malta and Gozo.
